Character
Name - Leo
Fandom - The Melody of the Gears (my original fiction)
Canon or AU? - Canon
Canon Point - Upon Miseratti and Mr. Sanarkant's disappearance

Personality - Leo's personality is difficult because he's a mass of contradictions. He can charm people with his assertive attitude, while just as easily turning them off with this same strong point. His emotional hairpin-turns give some people figurative whiplash, especially when they first meet him. The Bouncer is proud (whether he has a right to be or not), and his mood is a constantly bending, changing shield to protect that pride. Most of the time, his well disguised insecurities go forgotten even by himself, although it makes it easier for them to catch up with him. His ability to respect people and treat them with his falsely bubbly personality is entirely relative to their ability to stay away from those sore spots that his vanity tries so dubiously to protect- It's easier to keep his interests with money or something equally shiny.

Leo is flamboyant and showy. He doesn't care if the attention he gets is good or bad- as long as he has some form of it. He contradicts himself again in this sense: He wants people to look at him-- but he doesn't want them close enough to hurt him. Often, he laments the fact that 'no one likes him' and how 'empty' things are. The selfish brat also seems entirely incapable of recognizing the fact that this is almost entirely his own fault.

He's sly as a fox to boot; this is his most often shown personality-- And this is the face that he sells to his customers: the part of himself that he so willingly hands out to just anyone. His selfish and impatient tendencies are strong, however: The moment you call him out, or he realizes that there's no chance for a pay out? That happy face will be swapped for a mask of indignation and boredom.

Leo's shameless and twisted: His job often involves killing people or Golems (most of which are indiscernible from normal humans anyway), and he has to do it secretively and well. He's grown to dislike prudish people and anyone who claims that their morals are the high road. Leo isn't past committing some of the most heinous of heinous acts to get his way or assert his dominance over someone or something. He uses sex and his body as his most powerful and dangerous tool, and has no respect at all for someone's 'innocence'. In fact, he's rather likely to take it by force, and then inform you that he's done you a favor.

It seems easy to say that he's just a misguided youth, and in some cases this is true. Somewhere deep beneath the act that he so willingly puts on is a child who has had his mind twisted by years of abuse by someone he considers a trusted father figure. The only shreds of that innocence left to him is a strange feeling that he's made for 'more' than this, and that his only way of atoning is by hunting monsters and saving people from them. This is a survivor, we're talking about. He's capable of putting down strong roots though, if the fancy strikes him. His loyalty isn't something you can buy with money (no no, not even from him, who is willing to sell anything) and it's one of the few pure things left to him.

History - Leo's Wiki page

Leo is for lack of a better word, a whore. He's the prize of Club Wisp's brothel, and known far and wide as the golden boy. He was born two a pair of apathetic parents and doomed to a life of mediocrity, something that the fiery tempered young man just wouldn't tolerate. Leo often skipped classes in favor of vandalizing the many geared structures that keep Paragon City habitable and laughing when the officials had to reverse his mischief. Often, he would spend days coming up with his elaborate schemes to make the gears malfunction, or perhaps to have them spontaneously spew oil and grease on passers by. At a young age, his one talent-- singing was discovered by a school official, but his parents chose not to expand upon such a thing despite the fact that in Leo's eyes, that path would be the only thing to raise him up out of poverty.

One day, a local gang caught him sabotaging the machine parts behind their club, and by chance-- he was saved by Mr. Brutus Sanarkant, the Boss of Club Wisp's territory. Leo chose to stay there and became trained in the use of his talents; Mr. S showed a gift for drawing these things out of people and it came to pass that the young man found he was one of many "Elementalists", people gifted with power over the forces of nature. Using his flames, Leo became the golden boy of Club Wisp-- not only in his place at the brothel, but on the front line of the constant Turf war as well. The people of Paragon City are at constant war against demons and monsters of darkness, and he felt that by standing with Brutus' fighters, he could finally make a difference rather than being snuffed out like so many others who lived in the slums outside of the prosperous central district of E-star.

Around Leo's twenty second birthday, the bizarre young man called Julian came into Leo's life abruptly. He was forced into a Contract with the amnesiac in order to survive a shoot-out, and it linked their souls together as one. This forced Leo to serve as the other young man's 'Knight'. Forced to fight to the death for a stranger with an annoyingly smug attitude, he was even more furious when more and more stray ghosts and demons started rolling into town- and onto Wisp's Turf. When he was finally fed up, Mr. S. realized that it could very well be that Julian wasn't who he said he was.

Leo is taken from a point in canon where he has made peace with Julian and Miseratti, and is becoming increasingly suspicious of Mr. Sanarkants recreational activities-- and the sudden disappearance of both him and the aforementioned Homunculus.

Previous Game History - N/A

Skills/Abilities/Powers - Leo's most basic skill is acute pyrokenesis-- his flames are hot enough to weld with now, since his contract with Julian boosted their strength. As a Singer, he has some limited control over peoples' moods but not in an invasive way. Singer's in Paragon City are (usually) spiritual leaders and shamans, able to use their voice to express intense emotion in order to tell a story or recount an event. Leo rarely uses this skill however, though it does manifest in his charisma and glamour. He generally fights with a pair of hand guns of varying caliber (pending on the mission at hand).

Power Restrictions - Leo shouldn't really need any, as he will likely be on-par with most characters that could be described as (somewhat) Superhuman.

Inherited Power - Bullet Time! (This fits well with him for obvious reasons)

Samples
First Person Sample (Video, Text, or Phone Call) -

[The video comes on, and it seems that the user had been intending to document something. That is lost to the viewer however, as the phone abruptly hits the ground and skitters through some gravel, leaving you with the view of the side of a brick building.]

Hello? Why the hell won't you talk to me? I toast things like you for breakfast-- hey, wait where am I, what is this?!

[There's the sound of frustrated cursing, and a spray of dirt and rock kicked up-- presumably from said person's shoe. A moment later, the phone is scooped up from the ground and Leo's face appears, lip curled into a snarl as he stops the recording.]

Third Person Sample (Log) - The first thing that unsettled him was the quiet. There were no ticking noises, not the slightest sound of gears grinding and it was the most eerie sort of dissonance that Leo could imagine. His home was reliant on these huge bits of machinery that purified the air and kept the sun from scorching them or the darkness from freezing them. This was not possible, and for a moment the call boy was terrified that he had gone deaf. He whimpered and raised his hands, pressing them to his ears-- all of which he heard just fine. Then, his eyes shot open, clear green irises contracting swiftly as light replaced the darkness he had enclosed himself in. He flexed his toes and looked down at himself. Everything was as he remembered it at least. He was wearing his tight leggings and knee-high boots, outfitted with gear-shaped charms to ensure his safety. They were a symbol of what gave their people life, after all. Leo jammed his hand into the pocket of his vest to find his cell, only to have it return to him a "no service" message.

Hissing, the redhead pushed himself up and grunted when a shoebox skittered across the ground beside him. A subtle frown graced his features and he reached out to pick it up. When he opened it, it was the written manuscripts that caught his eyes first, and their contents put a curl of distaste on his lip. The phone was what he went for next, and he frantically tried to dial for his Contracted, Julian's number. The only comfort he had was in the fact that he could feel him close by; their infallible bond likely thrumming with his fear and confusion.

"Come on, Come on, you stupid boy pick up!" Leo's defenses were down, his heart pounding in his chest until he was light headed.

Several deep breaths only better settled him, and he got to his feet with the shoebox under his arm, stumbling around the side of an unfamiliar house as he made it out onto the sidewalk. There was something moving in the darkness of the alleyway, given away only by the dragging and scraping noise that echoed from the walls. He looked into it, his phone still in his hand.

"Jules? Julian? Hello?" He shoved the device into one of the pouches on his belt and edged forward as white-hot flames ignited on his fingertips.

Any Other Details We Should Know - Of course as any story, this one has an impressive plot twist and I DO plan on inevitably canon-updating Leo to that point. When it happens, he will return with the full memories of his past life, giving him the wisdom of an ancient king. The two personalities will have to find some kind of common ground, and he will likely be switching rather rapidly between the two when that time comes until settling on the more mild mannered and personable outgoing persona that once belonged to the conquering king Cedric the Lionpaw. I'll be doing a full write up and all when that time comes, of course.
